Be a part of conservation in the Lakehead Region by joining the Adopt-an-Acre campaign. Revenues from this program go directly toward tax and operating expenses for conservation lands. Your support of the Adopt-an-Acre program will be noticed at any one of the 6,000 acres (2500 hectares) of conservation lands operated by the LRCA. You will help to maintain nature trails by sparkling waters, such as the Cascades. Access to scenic Lake Superior will remain through boat launches at Little Trout Bay and Silver Harbour. Children will continue to delight in the birds on the Mission Marsh boardwalk. Donations can be made as an individual, family or group. You can give them as gifts or in memory of a departed loved one. Your donation of $25 will adopt one acre for a year. Donors will receive a tax receipt, window decal and certificate as a small token of appreciation and have the satisfaction of helping to protect conservation lands in the Lakehead region. You may also choose to become a Sustaining Conservationist, like the Graham family of Gillies Township. A one-time $500 donation will make a lasting contribution to the conservation of one acre of land. This initiative complements other programs, such as the Adopt-a-trail participants who clear litter from Conservation Area trails, as well as entrance fees and corporate sponsors. |
