2018 WINE TASTING & DINNER AT WHITEWATER
The LRCA and LCF present the 2018 Wine Tasting & Dinner at Whitewater!
Tickets are $100 each and include a 5-course meal and a tasting of six different wine varieties (1 white, 5 red).
The tasting starts at 6:30 p.m. SHARP and dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m. There will be a cash bar and small silent auction as well! Please note that all wine tasting tickets MUST be used prior to dinner being served.
All proceeds are in support of the LRCA's Living Classroom Program.

2018 TREE SEEDLING PICK UP DAY
Individuals that have purchased tree seedlings as part of the 2018 Private Landowners Tree Seedling Assistance Program are required to pick up their seedlings from Hill's Greenhouses (4348 Oliver Road) on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

2018 LIVING CLASSROOM PROGRAMS
The LRCA will once again be hosting a series of outdoor programs over the course of six months. The full lineup of topics includes:
- May 24- Birds & Birding
- June 28- Wildflowers
- July 26- Geology
- August 23- Butterflies & Dragonflies
- September 20- Archaeology
- October 11- Trees

LIVING CLASSROOM- Birding at Mission
8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Meet LRCA Staff at our Administrative Office located at 130 Conservation Road at 8:45 a.m. Participants will be bussed to either Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area or Hurkett Cove Conservation Areas, both of which are located along well-known migration routes for waterfowl and songbirds. A guided hike with a focus on birds and birding techniques will be highlighted for this session. Binoculars and viewing scopes will be on hand for participants to borrow.
Be sure to dress appropriately with proper footwear (e.g. rubber boots, waterproof hikers, etc.), and don't forget to bring your camera and binoculars!

2018 PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Participants will be bussed to either Hazelwood Lake Conservation Areas OR Mills Block Forest Management Property for a guided hike to observe Orchids & Wildflowers. Orchids & Wildflower identification material will be provided to participants to use during the walk. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.

2018 HAZELWOOD LAKE FAMILY FUN DAY

Ancient and modern geological features will be explored at Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area and/or Silver Harbour Conservation Area. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.

Meet LRCA Staff at our Administrative Office located at 130 Conservation Road for a workshop on Butterflies & Dragonflies! You will then be bussed to Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area for a guided hike. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.

2018 FALL MUSHROOM HIKE
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The 2018 Fall Mushroom Hike will begin with a talk at the LRCA Administrative Office at 130 Conservation Road. Participants will then make their way to Mills Block Forest for a guided hike and mushroom identification. The presentation and guided hike will be led by our expert guest speaker, Dr. Leonard Hutchison of Lakehead University.
This event is free of charge, although pre-registration is required as space is limited.

LIVING CLASSROOM- Archaeology
8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
This field trip will feature a discussion on local archaeological findings within the region, specifically near MacKenzie Point Conservation Area and Silver Harbour Conservation Area. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.

2018 TRAILS AND TAILS DOG ADOPTION FAIR
12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The 2018 Trails and Tails Dog Adoption Fair will once again be held at Cascades Conservation Area! Join the LRCA and local rescues as we showcase adoptable pets and stress responsible pet ownership (including on-leash recreation).

LIVING CLASSROOM- Trees
8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The session will begin with a tree lecture in the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority’s Multi-purpose Room. Participants will be bussed to Cascades Conservation Area for a closer look at the changes of the season and tree species of the Boreal Forest. Tree identification guides will be available for use during the walk. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.

2018 FALL WATERFOWL VIEWING DAY
The 2018 Fall Waterfowl Viewing Day will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area on Saturday, October 13th. Once again the LRCA and expert birders from the Thunder Bay Field Naturalists will guide participants around the Conservation Area in search of migratory birds. No experience is necessary! Be sure to dress appropriately as this event runs rain-or-shine. Be sure to bring your binoculars, cameras and field guides!
