HAZELWOOD LAKE
Conservation Area
Hazelwood Lake is one of the closest inland lakes to the City of Thunder Bay. Located only 25 minutes from the City, this large, semi-wilderness area is perfect for full day family outings. Enjoy a refreshing swim at the beach, a relaxing evening of fishing and barbecuing or a leisurely walk along one of the many trails. In the winter you can explore the trails by snowshoe.

The natural attributes and visitor facilties of Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area make it a great site for major events.


The placid waters of Hazelwood Lake are perfect for canoeing and fishing.
No gas powered motors allowed.

Hazelwood Lake Centre The Hazelwood Lake Centre is a multi-use building located in the Conservation Area. The Centre is available for rental from May to October and can accommodate a variety of group functions. It also serves as a special event location for conservation education. The building features three meeting rooms, displays and a viewing deck. The Great Hall has cathedral ceilings, picture windows, a fireplace alcove and an outstanding view of the lake. The entire Centre is handicap accessible. Rental enquiries can be made to Scandia Catering at 767-3565.
The Hazelwood Lake Centre can be rented for meetings and other special occasions.
Directions: Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area is located 14 km north on Hazelwood Drive. Follow Dawson Road (Highway 102) past County Fair Plaza to Hazelwood Drive. Turn right on Hazelwood Drive and follow it to the end at Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area.
