Picturesque landscapes of frosty splendour depict the Lakehead Region throughout the winter season. A fresh blanket of soft, white snow garnish evergreens, cover rooftops and beautify the Region. With the arrival of Jack Frost, the coming of the holiday season is certain - and so is the awareness of Christmas gift giving.

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority invites you to purchase a scenic present that keeps on giving! The 2011 Explorer Card! The 2011 Explorer Card allows access to Conservation Areas year round. Try snow shoeing or bird watching; view scenic waterfalls and hike through forest trails. In purchasing an Explorer Card, the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority can maintain and improve Conservation Areas for today, tomorrow, and the future.

By purchasing and displaying the small laminated card, you can forgo paying the regular $2.00 per vehicle fee for Conservation Areas. Special events, such as Waterfowl Viewing Day or Family Fishing Day are free with your Explorer Card. The cost of the 2011 Explorer Card is $30.00.

Prefer to give a present in the form of a donation? A financial donation can be made in the name of your chosen recipient as a holiday gift. Recipients will receive a custom donation card detailing who has made the donation in their name, along with information regarding how the contribution benefits the LRCA. Projects

The Conservation Authority has done projects in most watercourses in the Lakehead watershed. The scope of work has ranged from erosion control and the Floodway to fill-line mapping and conservation lands. Project locations have been plotted on a large watershed map and the date plus a brief description of each project is noted beside the watercourse in which the work was done.
