| If someone falls in, run for help - don't try and rescue them yourself |

| Get an adult to call Emergency Services |

| Show an adult where
the person fell in |
|
| Coach the victim:
tell them not to panic |
|
| Tell them to swim to the edge of the riverbank or the edge of the ice |
|
| Have them hold onto
the edge so that they can rest and keep afloat |
|
| Instruct them to
kick their legs and pull with their arms to try to get out of the water |
|
| Tell them to roll
themselves onto the ice or bank |
|
| If they cannot get out, tell them to hold onto the edge. Help will be here soon |
|
| If they get out tell them to crawl to safety on the land |
