Message
The Lakehead Conservation Foundation (LCF) continues to help with improvements to local Conservation Areas. A $25,000 cheque was presented to Lakehead Conservation in August 2002. Total contributions now stand at more than $400,000 in the LCF's fifteen-year history. This year's funds were used toward facilities at Cascades and Silver Harbour Conservation Areas, as well as picnic tables at Hurkett Cove and Little Trout Bay Conservation Areas. Our funds helped to secure other project partners. The biggest fundraising event is the annual Dinner and Auction. The 2002 Dinner raised over $17,500 in proceeds. Thank you to volunteers and the one-hundred-and-seventy businesses, individuals and organizations for their generous contributions. Please plan to attend a fun evening at the Dinner and Auction on February 6, 2003. Proceeds to local Conservation Areas. The Garden Party was a new venture that proved to be a lot of fun. We are looking for donations of plant material to sell at our next event on June 7. The Blake Memorial Grove now consists of over 3,300 trees that line the Floodway from the Harbour upstream to Fort William Road. Blake Funeral Chapel donates one tree in memory of each person they serve and hosts an annual dedication service. Private donations can also be made to the Memorial Grove. Phil Jarvis, President |
